Where I hang lights

Carrollton, Georgia and about 30 miles around it. There is no shop to come to — I load the ladders and the wire and drive to the house.

Carrollton is home base. From there I run east through Villa Rica and Temple toward the Douglasville side, west to Bremen and Bowdon, and south to Whitesburg, Mount Zion and Roopville.

That circle takes in most of Carroll County and reaches into Haralson and Douglas counties. It is a real working radius rather than a list of every town I could theoretically drive to — past about 30 miles the windshield time stops making sense for both of us.

Lights are different from most home work in one way that is worth being blunt about: it all has to happen in the same few weeks. Everybody wants the house lit at the same time, and there is only one of me on the ladder. So the further out you are, the more it helps to call early — not because I charge you for the drive, but because I put the outlying towns together into whole days, and those days fill.

If you are close to the edge of the area, call and ask. I would rather tell you yes or no in thirty seconds than have you guess.

Town by town

Carrollton is covered on the main page, since that is where the business is based. These two get their own write-ups because the houses there ask for genuinely different work.

The same job in every town

Wherever you are in that circle, the work does not change: strand cut to your roofline, clipped under the shingle rather than stapled into fascia, and taken back down when the season is over. The full list is on what you get, and the houses are in the gallery.

Service area questions

What areas does Kingdom Custom Co serve?

Carrollton, Villa Rica, Bremen, Temple, Bowdon, Whitesburg, Mount Zion, Roopville and out toward Douglasville — roughly a 30 mile radius of Carrollton, Georgia.

That covers most of Carroll County and reaches into Haralson and Douglas counties.

Do you have a shop or office to visit?

No. Kingdom Custom Co is a service-area business — AJ travels to the property, so there is no public street address.

Does it matter how far out I am?

Distance is one of the things that affects a quote, along with how many storeys the house is, how far the roofline runs and how much of it a ladder can actually reach. If you are near the edge of the area, call and ask rather than assuming.

Why does booking early matter if I am not in Carrollton?

Because the season is short and the further towns get grouped. A day spent in Villa Rica or Bremen is a day of houses out that way, so the earlier you call the easier it is to put you in one of them.

Not sure if you are in the area?

Call and tell me where you are. AJ Phillips answers his own phone.
